Public version 2.17 ETA |
I have fixed a number of the reported bugs that were in 2.16. This is your last chance to report any new bugs. Tomorrow (Wednesday) I plan to update some help files and then release the public version (assuming the help files don't take more than one day). Once the 2.17 public version is released, then I will only fix real emergency bugs (quick-fix kinds of problems) on Thursday. Then you'll be stuck with that version until January.
Remember that I probably won't be able to fix *everything* that has been reported. I'm trying to concentrate on the major issues. But if you find something that you think is critical, please post it asap. |

I think I have tested everything that looked a little off to me. The only thing I haven't posted is an optimization that I have been trying to figure out if it is even worth considering. I did quite a few tests with it to understand how CMud is doing things, but it is definitely not something for this public release.
It is good to hear your optomistic about releasing shortly. I was getting worried that your cold had become much worse when you didn't pop in yesterday. |

I'm still in the middle of documenting all of the Lua stuff and doing some final testing. It seems that the Lua error reporting is broken in v2.16, so I'd really like to fix this too.
I'm going to continue writing more documentation tonight, but I don't think I'm going to make the release. I'm going to postpone the public release till tomorrow so that I can finish more of the documentation.
Also, when I release the 2.17 public version tomorrow, I'm only going to announce it in this Beta forum at first. After a couple of days, then I'll post the announcement to the main CMUD forum and update the main site pages. This will give beta testers the first shot at the new public version, and also reduce any problems caused by issues that might need a quick-fix.
Sorry for the delay. I'd really like to finish this as much as you'd like to use it. I'm really starting to cut into our normal holiday vacation here, so I'm as anxious to get this released as anyone. |

OK, I think I have most of the Lua stuff documented now (that was a lot of work). I also found and fixed several Lua bugs (stuff that nobody else could discover because it wasn't documented ;) Sorry if some of the documentation seems a bit repetitive. I'd be working on this forever if I didn't use copy/paste for a lot of it (getalias, getvar, gettrigger...getwhatever!)
So, don't try the examples in the documentation and then report if they don't work. I've tested all of the examples already and I'm well aware that some do not work properly in v2.16. But they should be fixed in v2.17.
Anyway, Fang can go crazy reading all of the Lua documentation now |

I have also updated the Version History for the 2.17 release so that you can see what is fixed for tomorrow. If you have reported a bug that isn't on the list, then it's probably not going to be fixed for the public version.
