I think I've solved it - the session kept referring to zMud files for the layout - when I overwrote these with cMud directory references, then positioned everything as I wanted, saved it, then ticked ...

I've used my screens for so many years at 120dpi that I'd forgot about that option!!

Resetting it back to the 98dpi default solved all those problems - I guess Microsoft haven't thou ...
